I got two of the best comments about my show today, and one not-so-good one.
Someone at the Craft Center, who's name I forget, asked me if the two characters were from somewhere, or not, because she and her friend made up stories while looking at the Fisting pictures.
That was awesome! That was entirely the point of the show. And that makes me happy.
Later, a customer who I showed my card to said it looked like it could be a book cover, with text at the top. And I thanked him profusely, because that was what I wished I could do with my art.
Tasha, however, said she saw my show, and liked it, especially the silhouettes. Silhouettes? What silhouettes? Did she mean the shadows behind the characters in one of the paintings? No, the ones painted onto the wall. Oh. Those aren't mine. Someone else is sharing Her First Big Cock with me. Oh. That's why the styles looked entirely different.
I had been toying with the idea of putting up a sheet about the show next to the guestbook table, and hadn't decided yet. I think I might, so people who look at the pictures and make up stories know they're doing exactly what I was hoping they would. If I do, I'll print it up and hang it after my orals, before my reception.
Spent $80. When adding it all in my head, it was more than that, so I'm glad it came out to less.
Watermelon, pineapple, canteloupe, kiwi, assorted crackers, assorted cheese, semisweet and white chocolate+strawberries, mini pepperidge farm cookies, cran/raspberry juice, sprite, root beer. Mints, and toothpicks. I almost bought matching blue cups/plates/napkins etc, but the cups were overly expensive, so I went with plain. White napkins. Some blue trimmed plates. Blue platters. And a white tablecover. And cereal and milk for home.
Tomorrow while I'm at work, Mercutio will prepare the food, thankfully. He's a sweetheart.
Also, I'm trying to arrange dinner Tuesday after the opening. Especially for friends coming in from out of town. Currently: Myself, Mercutio, Carolyn. Anyone want to join us? I don't want it to get too big, and Care and I are thinking Amherst Brewing Company. I could use a burger, or a steak or something. And those sweet potato fries. And I should get a drink.
I'm not happy with all my pieces. One I entirely dislike and was struggling with until 9ish last night, at which point I threw it in the frame and went to the gallery to hang because it was so late.
I drew my show's title on the wall and think it looks good.
I'm skipping class right now. Seriously, you know things are weird with me when I skip a class. Especially premeditated skipping of a class.
I slept last night, though in counting it was for only just over 8 hours. I feel alright though, aside from this nagging sicky feel.
I'll go to my second class today I think, come home, clean the house a bit, and go to work.
